ImpactThe Woman’s Fund of Portage County funds programs that increase the potential of local women and children.
$600,000+ to 55+ agencies - has been awarded since 1997, through over 182 grants. Funds for education, food, opportunities, safety, and even for diapers have made an impact. We have continued to grow every year since our creation. A few of the agencies we have supported include: Family Crisis Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Homework Center, Operation Bootstrap, and CAP Services. Annually, two-thirds of the endowment income is distributed directly to Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation and the Stevens Point Area YMCA Foundation for services to local women and children. The Women’s Fund seeks to increase the number of local women who give time and money to improve their community, and to inspire women to think and give like philanthropists. Since its inception in 1997, over 500 people (mostly women) have donated to our community through the Women’s Fund, including numerous people who donated at various benchmark levels during our three capital campaigns. By involving our previous donors and other interested women in our fund raising, ARTS night, the Spring Luncheon, and our granting process, the circle of Portage County giving by women continues to grow. We are currently in the midst of our 20/20 Vision Campaign with a goal to increase our endowment to $1 million to celebrate our 20th anniversary. You can learn more here. In addition, A.R.T.S . Night, which features local artists’ works, a silent auction, and company sponsors, raises approximately $30,000 every year. Our Spring Luncheon annually welcomes over nearly 300 supporters to celebrate our grant recipients and other achievements, and to honor a special woman who has impacted our community and our organization. |
