2017 Facts at a Glance An Endowment Supporting Local Women and Children
Mission: To empower women philanthropists by creating opportunities to fund programs that will develop the full potential of local women and children.
Organization: The Women's Fund of Portage County is an endowment supporting local women and children, formed in 1997 by a collaborative partnership among the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, Saint Michael's Foundation and the Stevens Point Area YMCA Foundation. A volunteer Board and Committees lead and staff the organization.
Giving: In 2017, Women’s Fund allocated $60,000 to local agencies (including its two partners) for 20 projects. Of that amount 45% came from interest from our endowment and 55% came from our events. Over $500,000 to 40+ local agencies has been awarded since 1997. Sexual assault victims, school children with food or clothing needs, moms in need, elderly women-all have been embraced by the Women's Fund.
Endowment: The 2012-13 Spark the Legacy Endowment Campaign increased the endowment to over $700,000 with the generous support of 76 people who pledged $1,500 or more and hundreds who gave at different amounts. Over the years, the Women’s Fund has engaged over 500 donors. Over $26,000 comes from the endowment yearly for grants.
A.R.T.S Night (A Reason To Shop-Share-Socialize) raises $38,000+ with the sale of local artists’ works, a silent auction, and sponsorships. Over 300 people will enjoy the event Thursday, October 26th, 2017 from 5-8:30pm
Spring Luncheon: Friday,May 12th, 2017, 11am-1pm at SentryWorld welcomes almost 200 supporters to celebrate our grant recipients and honors the “Spark” recipient whose generosity has impacted our community and our organization.
